Ascention of our Lord

Ascension is the act of rising for instance, the ascension of Christ from the earth to heaven. This word is used in Christianity to signify the bodily rising of Jesus Christ on the 40th day after his resurrection.

The Ascension is the day the resurrected Christ, went into Heaven in the full sight of His disciples. It happened 40 days after Jesus Christ had risen from the dead on Easter, and is regarded by Christians as the final act of their redemption from sin.

The ascension is a Christian celebration of the Ascension of Christ into heaven. It is observed on the 40th day after Easter. The Christian doctrine of the ascension holds that Jesus ascended to heaven in the presence of his eleven apostles following his resurrection, and that in heaven he sits at the right hand of God the Father.

Accession refers to the concept of entering heaven alive which is a belief held by multiple religions and traditions. Since death is generally considered the normal end to an individual's life on Earth, entering heaven without dying first is considered exceptional and usually a sign of God's special recognition of the individual's piety.

Ascension is the act of rising to an important position or a higher level.

Ascension refers to rising or upward movement. It is a normal and natural part of the evolutionary process of the universe. It is mostly used in Christianity to describe Christ upward movement to heaven.

What does the Ascension mean for us? “It means that we are already living under His reign while awaiting His return to establish the Kingdom in its fullness. We are not to stand gazing up into heaven (Acts 1:11), but to prepare ourselves soberly as His servants, filled with the Spirit, expecting His return, living lives of righteousness.” (Orthodox Study Bible notes on Acts 1:9-11).
